Preparation of Samples for Analysis of Stable Isotopes

isotopos

Paleodiet: Preparation of the inorganic fraction from animal (including human) bone remains for the C13 analysis. Collagen samples from the mammal (including human) bones are obtained for the C13 and N15 analyses. The stable isotope analyses are carried out in collaboration with the Archaeozoology Laboratory (“Laboratorio de Arqueozoología”) at the Madrid Autonomous University (“Universidad Autónoma de Madrid”), Spain.

Paleotemperature: Preparation of the inorganic fraction from remains of otolites and mollusc shells for the O18 analyses. The analyses of such isotope are carried out in collaboration with the Archaeozoology Laboratory previously indicated, calibrating the obtained data with the sea basin corresponding to the sample origin.
